Remember the old Viewliner Train at Disneyland some 50 years ago, or have at
least seen pictures of it? It was obviously an influence in the original
design of the Monorail. Now, here's an idea and match that just might work
out, apparently with some changes that may be needed. What about using the
now vacant People Mover / Rocket Rods track, for the route for a revised
Viewliner Train? Walt loved and sponsored this train himself.

I don't know if the Viewliner Train even exists in storage somewhere; yet in
any even it would no-doubt have to be modified anyway. But it would
certainly fit the bill and fit right in with the retro/deco look as the
redesigned Tomorrowland takes place.

There was good reason for it to hold the record of the attraction with the
shortest lifetime.

I thought the demise of the Viewliner Train was actually due to technical
issues; it was a little too advanced for its day, just like the Flying
Saucers. Yet, the Flying Saucers are coming back now that technology has
caught up, in the new Cars Land within Disney's California Adventure. I sure
the Viewliner Train would benefit from the same upgrade in technology over
the years. Besides, it would just be a shell anyway, or a vehicle, upon the
old Peoplemove route, to utilized something that now stands vacant.

Here's an idea I've been playing around with for a few years.

Why not use the existing People Mover route for battery powered golf carts -
the kind that can seat a dozen or so. Disney could use it for some kind of
guided tour. They would just need to install some guard rails and buy a
dozen or so carts. The cost would be minimal. They could do this until they
figure out something better.

Another thing they could do is use it as an elevated walkway...

If they ever do decide to build a modern People Mover, would it be possible
to extend the track? Maybe give it an extra station or two? That would make
it a real form of transportation for the park and not just a ride.
