No posts on Google Groups since 2008. Posting doesn't work either. Does
anyone know what's going on? Why won't Google fix this?

Because they bought the DejaNews archives to mine them for info and
that's all they wanted - nobody really uses Google Groups as a link
into Usenet, the interface sucks an there is no filtering.

And if you want a conversation, you use VBulletin or PHPBB server
software. You can moderate that, Usenet is still the Wild West for
trolls and potty-mouths.

Since there's no horde on their doorstep with Pitchforks and Torches,
Google isn't going to bother fixing their Usenet portal.

Get a fresh copy of Forte Agent and sign up for a news server - all
the ISP's I know of have stopped including it as a standard service.

I'm currently using Eternal September, a free Usenet server located in
Germany.

But when that's gone, Google is really the only other game in town.

Oh well...
